Resources for Patients & Families

To help your child prepare for his/her visit, we have created special picture stories that can teach your child what to expect. Our hearing tests can be done at Connecticut Children’s locations in Hartford, Farmington, or Glastonbury. There are two types of hearing tests that our audiologists may try with your child. They are the “play hearing test” or the “regular hearing test.”

  • Play hearing test: This test is for young children (about age 4 and under) or older children who might have difficulty learning to raise their hand when they hear a sound.”
  • Regular hearing test: Your child will be asked to raise his/her hand in response to a sound. If your child has difficulty doing this, the audiologist may switch to the play hearing test.

For an overview of what to expect, select your hearing test type and appointment location below, or feel free to call our office.
