4th-Year Audiology Externship Program

At CT Children’s, we are dedicated to providing an exceptional educational experience for audiology students. Our comprehensive externship program is designed to cultivate highly skilled and competent pediatric audiologists through a diverse range of clinical experiences and interdisciplinary collaboration.  The externship is approximately 11 months, usually beginning in June and ending in May. Students will work with their preceptor to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage hearing loss and balance disorders.  Experiences will include behavioral testing techniques, electrophysiology, selection, verification, and validation of amplification, implantable devices, including cochlear implants and bone conduction solutions, vestibular assessment, sound sensitivity evaluation, continuing education, and community outreach.

Program Goals:

  • To develop proficiency in a wide range of pediatric audiological services.
  • To prepare externs to become competent providers capable of working independently.
  • To foster a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to patient care.

Certified Preceptors:

Our preceptors are experienced audiologists who hold the Certificate Holder-Audiology Preceptor (CH-AP) credential, ensuring high-quality mentorship and guidance throughout your externship.
