Ongoing Research
Connecticut Children’s is home to some of the top researchers in the nation. We are presently conducting studies to improve fertility in female patients undergoing chemotherapy, as well as evaluating the long-term effects of chemotherapy on the heart.
Children’s Oncology Group
Connecticut Children’s is one of 220 members of the Children’s Oncology Group, an international consortium that seeks to advance treatment for cancer through laboratory research and clinical trials. This partnership helps us to offer pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients the latest innovations in clinical therapy, while also helping advance clinical cancer research that benefits children everywhere.
Beat Childhood Cancer Consortium
Connecticut Children’s collaborates with 19 hospitals throughout the U.S. through the Beat Childhood Cancer Consortium to bring early-phase studies and breakthroughs to children in Connecticut and the New England region.
The Sunshine Project
This innovative collaboration unites top doctors and researchers from children’s hospitals across the country in an effort to expedite new treatments that not only cure cancer, but do so with fewer side effects to patients.
Personalized Medicine
Connecticut Children’s is pushing the boundaries for developing treatment plans based on whole genome analysis of a patient’s tumor. Our molecular-guided trials are working to expand the individual targeting of tumors through the use of surrogates (mice). We also anticipate that our partnership with The Jackson Laboratory in the area of genomic research will be transformational in the care of children, adolescents, and young adults with blood disorders and cancer.
