Breakthrough Treatment for Cancer

Connecticut Children’s is one of the few children’s hospitals in the country with a team dedicated to diagnosing and treating brain tumors in children. Our pediatric oncologists partner with our highly skilled neurosurgeons and radiology specialists on a collaborative treatment approach.

Together with our Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery Program our Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders actively looks for early markers of heart damage in pediatric cancer patients. Our experts use cardiac MRI to detect cardiac damage and determine therapies that prevent and manage heart damage in cancer survivors before it progresses.

Connecticut Children’s is home to some of the top researchers in the nation. We are currently conducting studies to improve fertility in female patients undergoing chemotherapy, as well as evaluating the long-term effects of chemotherapy on the heart. We also partner with three research groups, Children’s Oncology Group, The Sunshine Project and Beat Childhood Cancer Research Consortium, this allows us to offer the latest innovations in clinical therapy.
