Hartford, CT - Connecticut Children's is thrilled to announce the launch of Kids Connect TV (KCTV), a dedicated closed network channel designed to engage hospitalized patients and their families through an interactive hospital broadcast. With generous support from the Dunkin Joy in Childhood Foundation, the Kids Connect TV Studio is officially live and now on air at Connecticut Children's.

Kids Connect TV aims to provide patients with education, promote self-expression, increase socialization, and create therapeutic diversion right in the comfort of every patient room. The studio, located within the Raytheon Technologies Family Resource Center at Connecticut Children's in Hartford, is the first of its kind in the state, being the only closed-circuit television studio within a health care system dedicated to kids.

"We are incredibly excited to introduce Kids Connect TV to our patient families," said Bob Duncan, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Connecticut Children's. "This innovative platform offers a unique opportunity for our patients to engage in a variety of interactive and entertaining programs right from their hospital rooms."

Kids Connect TV is entirely "for kids, by kids," giving patients at Connecticut Children's the chance to produce, film, and even star in programs to be broadcasted across all televisions in the hospital. From daily news shows to video gaming sessions, musical performances, virtual field trips, hot wing eating contest and much more, KCTV offers a diverse range of content to cater to the interests of young patients.

"We are grateful to the Dunkin Joy in Childhood Foundation for their generous support in bringing Kids Connect TV to life," said Duncan. "Their partnership has allowed us to create a truly immersive and engaging experience for our patients during their hospital stay."

“Children battling illness are often unable to experience the simple joys of childhood, and our guests and franchisees teamed up to make a difference for kids in hospitals across the country as part of our annual Iced Coffee Day Fundraiser, said Victor Carvalho, Dunkin’ Franchisee and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation. “I am thrilled that the Foundation was able help Connecticut Children’s develop Kids Connect TV. This program which provides not only programming for patients to enjoy bedside but also a space to create programs for fellow patients, bringing joy even on the tough days.”

Patients and their families can tune in to Kids Connect TV on Channel 1 on their in-patient room televisions within the Connecticut Children's campus. For more information about Kids Connect TV and to view the programming schedule, visit https://www.connecticutchildrens.org/Kidsconnect
